Resurfacing and Safety Improvement Project on Route 2 in the Town of Glastonbury and Marlborough
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of a resurfacing and safety improvement project on Route 2 between exits 11 and 13 in the town of Glastonbury on Friday, August 1, 2014.

The project involves resurfacing and safety improvements of approximately 3.7 miles of Route 2 westbound and eastbound lanes including bridges and on/off ramps in Glastonbury and Marlborough.  As part of the resurfacing, the technique of rubblization will be used throughout this area.  Rubblization is a means of rehabilitating deteriorated Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) pavement which involves the concrete being broken into pieces, and then it is overlaid with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA).

Also included in this project is the repair and resurfacing of three bridges within the project limits, placement of edge drains, and metal beam rail will be updated to current standards.

The project limits are from approximately 400 feet east of the Wassuc Road Bridge located between exits 10 and 11 to the Lake Road Bridge located between exits 12 and 13.

DOT Project No. 0053-0177 was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut Inc. of New Britain, CT on June 10, 2014 at a cost of $16,897,648.00 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2015.
