Rehabilitation of Culverts on Route 2 in Colchester and Preston to Begin on April 1, 2014
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the project for the rehabilitation of culvert numbers 05456 (Route 2 over Crowley Brook), 06675 (Route 2 over Myers Brook) and 06669 (Route 2 over unnamed brook) in Colchester and Preston is beginning on April 1, 2014.
The purpose of the project is to address the deterioration of three corrugated metal pipes by relining these existing pipes. The culverts were evaluated by the Department and classified as being in poor condition. The relining will be accomplished utilizing new corrugated aluminum pipes. The project also involves the removal of sediment at the structures, stabilization of slopes, placement of rock weirs, furnishing of baffles in the pipes to improve fish passage, installation of fencing and metal beam rail, and the installation of plantings.
DOT Project No. 172-392 was awarded to PJF Construction Corporation of West Hartford, Connecticut at a cost of $627,341.00 on January 21, 2014, and is scheduled to be completed in October 2014.
