Rehabilitation of Bridge Number 00410, Route 2 over New England Central Railroad in Norwich
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the temporary closing of the Route 2 Eastbound on ramp for Exit 29 and the Route 2 Westbound off ramp for Exit 29 in Norwich beginning October 24, 2014. The Detour Plan will be in effect on October 24, 2014 and will remain in effect through the end of November 2014.
The project consists of replacing steel beams, concrete deck, bituminous wearing surface, catch basins, protective fence and installing new precast concrete median barrier.
DOT Project No. 0103-0263 was awarded to The Brunalli Construction Company at a cost of $2,538,261.00 on June 26, 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2014.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
The contractor will minimum of one lane of traffic on Route 2 in each direction at all times. The contractor will be allowed to close the Route 2 eastbound on-ramp and Route 2 westbound off-ramp (Exit 29), and detour traffic in accordance with the detour plan. The ramps will be closed to traffic on October 24, 2014 and will remain closed through the end of November 2014.
Detour Plan
To access Route 2 eastbound from New London Turnpike proceed north to the intersection of Town Street and turn right ending at the intersection of Route 2 and Route 32. To access New London Turnpike from Route 2 westbound proceed north on Town Street from the Route 2 and Route 32 intersection. At the intersection of Town Street and New London Turnpike turn left ending at the off ramp of Exit 29 of Route 2.
