Reconstruction of Pavement on Route 85 in Colchester; Detour Required

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a repaving project will require a detour on Route 85 in Colchester from Monday, April 28, through Friday, May 16, 2014. The work will require a detour.

      The project consists of milling the existing bituminous pavement, removal of concrete slabs beneath the pavement in limited areas, and installation of a new 8-incg bituminous pavement on Route 85 in Colchester.  Construction vehicles will be entering and exiting the work zone frequently.

      DOT Project No. 0028-0183 was awarded to Lawrence Brunoli, Inc. at a cost of $17,729,000.00 on July 19, 2012 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2014.

DETOUR INFO

      A portion of Route 85 in Colchester will be closed with a detour in place from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday 4/28 through Friday 5/16.  The stretch of Route 85 closed is 2200 ft. long, located between the intersection of Route 85/Parum Road and the Route 85/Lake Hayward Road intersections.  Approximately 300’-500’ portion of this stretch of road will be closed at a time and the detour will be clearly marked with proper signage.

      Access will be permitted only for local traffic to Herman’s Diner, the residence located within the closed portion of the roadway and the Rte. 2 westbound on ramp. Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and proceed with caution when driving in this vicinity.
