Public Informational Meeting Concerning the Route 15, Interchange 59, Transportation Needs and Deficiencies Study
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold a public information meeting regarding the transportation study it conducted of the area encompassing Route 15/Wilbur Cross Parkway at Interchange 59, Route 63, and Route 69 in the City of New Haven and the Town of Woodbridge.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 22, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Woodbridge Senior Center, 4 Meetinghouse Lane, Woodbridge. A short presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. The public will have the opportunity to speak with the study team before and after the presentation.
This public meeting will offer the public a chance to learn about the study and the short, medium and long-term recommendations CTDOT has developed to improve safety and traffic conditions in the vicinity of Interchange 59.
The Interchange 59 Transportation Needs and Deficiencies Study was initiated due to traffic congestion and high crash rates.
The study examined traffic congestion, accidents, frequency of driveways and traffic signals, access to the Route 15/Wilbur Cross Parkway ramps, pedestrian needs, layout of roadway lanes, and socioeconomic and environmental conditions.
The Draft Final Report with recommendations can be reviewed at the New Haven and Woodbridge Public Libraries and on the project website at www.exit59study.com.
CTDOT is utilizing a consultant team lead by AECOM and assisted by Fitzgerald & Halliday, Inc. and Vanasse Hangen Brustlin for the study.  Public inquiries may be directed to the CTDOT Project Manager, Melanie Zimyeski at melanie.zimyeski@ct.gov.
