Nighttime Closure of I-95 Northbound Exit 44 Off Ramp on July 29, 2014
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the I-95 Northbound Exit 44 off ramp to Kimberly Avenue will be closed on Tuesday night, July 29, 2014, from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning for the emergency replacement of existing asphaltic plug joints on the bridge over the West River in the towns of New Haven and West Haven.
This project includes replacement of the I-95 over West River, in the towns of New Haven and West Haven, CT.
The upcoming night work on I-95 involves the replacement of all existing deteriorated asphaltic plug joints on Bridge Nos. 163 and 164 over the West River and Kimberly Avenue respectively. Although these bridges are being replaced, the joints must be functional through 2016. Due to the close proximity of the right lane and shoulder joint work on Bridge No. 163 to the Exit 44 off ramp, it is necessary to close the ramp for the safety of the travelling public as well as for the crews performing the work. This work is scheduled to take place on the evening of Tuesday, July 29, 2014 starting at 11:00 p.m. and will be completed by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
This work is being performed by The Middlesex Corporation of Littleton, MA at a cost of $129,773,454.00 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2018. The bridge is Bridge No. 00163A.

A detour route for I-95 Northbound Exit 44 traffic has been established. Traffic will be diverted to Exit 46 at Long Wharf Drive, continue to Sargent Drive and then to the I-95 Southbound on-ramp and exit I-95 Southbound at Exit 45, Route 10/Ella T Grasso Boulevard, which intersects with Kimberly Avenue.
