Installation of Pavement Markings on Various Secondary Routes

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the new pavement markings will be installed in eastern Connecticut beginning Sunday, September 7, 2014.  The first area of work includes Route 2 in North Stonington.

The project consists of the complete replacement of all existing pavement markings on several secondary routes throughout the state.  The project is one of several projects awarded to multiple contractors for the replacement of pavement markings throughout the state on both interstate and secondary roadways.  Many of the edge/shoulder lines and skip lines being replaced will be recessed into a machined groove to increase visibility during all weather conditions and to extend the service life of the markings.

This project covers the following areas:

·         Route 2 Marlborough to North Stonington

·         Route 2A Montville to Preston

·         Route 6 Columbia to Windham

·         Route 349 Groton both directions

·         Route 693 Montville to Waterford both directions

·         Route 695 Plainfield to Killingly

DOT Project No. 0172-0426 was awarded to Safety Markings Inc., at a cost of $717,950.00 on July 07, 2014 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2014.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

The majority of the work will be performed at night and will be a moving operation with intermittent closures of lanes and portions of ramps to complete the work.   Please use caution around this operation as these vehicles will be moving slower that posted speeds and when possible move over to provide them a buffer lane during work activity.

      Traffic may experience delays Monday through Friday from 6:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M., Fridays 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 A.M. Saturday, Saturday 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Sunday, and Sunday 8:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. Monday.
