Broad Street in Hartford to be closed from Saturday October 4 at 6:00 AM until Monday October 6 at 5:00 AM from Capitol Avenue to Farmington Avenue
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Broad Street in Hartford will be closed Saturday, October 4, at 6:00 AM until Monday, October 6, at 5:00 AM from Capitol Avenue to Farmington Avenue.

Travel lanes along Broad Street from Capitol Avenue to Farmington Avenue will be closed from Saturday, October 4, at 6:00 AM until  Monday October 6, at 5:00 AM.  The closure is required so that new bike lanes along Broad Street can be installed.  The entrance to the Interstate 84 on ramp will also be closed.  Vehicular and Pedestrian access to all businesses and facilities along this section of Broad Street will be maintained.    

DETOUR INFO – Signs will be posted along detour routes to assist motorists through the area.

Broad Street Traffic (Northbound and Southbound)

Traffic will be diverted around the work area utilizing the following streets: Farmington Avenue, Sigourney Street, Park Terrace and Capitol Avenue. 

Due to the nature of the work and the required closure and specific detour necessary, motorists are advised to visit the CTfastrak website for detour information at www.ctfastrak.com and sign up for construction bulletins that include detour maps and detailed information. 

The project referred to as Contract No. 5 in the CTfastrak program includes replacement of the existing Broad Street Bridge over the Busway and Amtrak, three retaining walls and the reconstruction of Broad Street between Capitol Avenue and Farmington Avenue in Hartford. 

Contract 5 was awarded to Manafort Brothers Inc. of Plainville, CT on March 22, 2012 at a cost of $9,559,719.82.  The project is being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction District 4, Thomaston.
