The Niantic River Moveable Bridge (Route 156 East Lyme/Waterford) will be Closed to Motor Vehicle Traffic for Routine Maintenance on Wednesday Night, May 15, 2013, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that bridge maintenance will require closure of the Niantic River Movable Bridge on Route 156 in East Lyme and Waterford on Wednesday night, May 15, 2013, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

All movable bridge traffic with the exception of emergency vehicles will be detoured while work is being performed. Eastbound Route 156 motorists will be directed to go North on Route 161, right on Route 1, then right onto Niantic River Road and return to Route 156. Westbound Route 156 motorists will follow the reverse route. Traffic control and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the detour. The regular work schedule for this project is from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. (Wednesday evening).

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
