Safety and Drainage Improvements on Route 42 and King Road in the Town of Cheshire
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 29, 2013, for a project consisting of safety and drainage improvements on Route 42 between Rosemary Road and Broadview Road and also on King Road in the Town of Cheshire.

The project begins on State Route 42 (North Brooksvale Road) in the vicinity of Rosemary Lane. It extends easterly to the vicinity of Broadview Road and extends for a length of approximately 1,000 feet on King Road that intersects Route 42.  The focus of the project is to provide drainage and safety improvements on Route 42 and King Road.

The drainage improvements on Route 42 and King Road include the installation of additional catch basins, and the drainage network will be directly connected to the drainage system on King Road.  Approximately 1,000 feet of the existing drainage network along King Road will be upgraded from 15-inch to 24-inch concrete pipes installed with the correct slope to make the Route 42 system function more effectively.

The safety improvements include full depth reconstruction along the curve on Route 42 to improve the geometry.  In addition, chevrons will be installed, replacing the existing arrow signs at the curve and advance warning signs prior to the curve. The project limits will be milled and paved once all work is completed along with replacement of curbing and sidewalks.

DOT Project No. 0025-0138 was awarded to Martin Laviero Contractors, Inc., of Bristol, CT, on April 18, 2013, at a value of $ 817,437.30 and is scheduled for completion by November 30, 2013.
