Route 174, East Main Street, in New Britain Road Closure Scheduled for October 23, 24 and 25, 2013.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the closure of Route 174, East Main Street, between East Street and Dewey Street in New Britain is scheduled to begin Wednesday October 23, 2013. The road will be closed daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, October 25, 2013.

The roadway reconstruction is part of DOT Project No. 0088-0178 and 0093-0166, also known as Contract C2 in the CTfastrak Program, and includes construction of a portion of the busway beginning just north of Cedar Street in Newington and running south to an end point just west of Stanley Street in New Britain.

DETOUR INFO –

Traffic will be detoured onto East Street, Smalley Street and Dewey Street. Signs will be posted to help guide motorists. The road will be re-opened during the evening hours. Motorists are advised to reduce speed and use caution at night as the driving surfaces may be uneven and unpaved at times.

The contract was awarded to E&S Joint Venture II of North Haven, Connecticut on March 22, 2012 at a cost of $39,427,150 and is scheduled to be completed in July 2014.
