Pavement Preservation on Interstate 84 in Vernon and Tolland
As part of the Department's Pavement Preservation Program, a section of Interstate 84 in the Towns of Vernon and Tolland has been identified as a candidate for this program for the 2014 construction season.
The purpose of this program is to enhance pavement performance by using cost-effective treatments to extend the service life of the existing pavements. The Department is developing plans to mill and place Polymer Modified Asphalt (PMA) along I-84 EB and WB from mile marker 74.38 in the town of Vernon, extending easterly to mile marker 75.06 on I-84 WB (0.68 miles) and to mile marker 82.16 on I-84 EB (7.78 miles) in the Town of Tolland.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in October 2013 , with construction anticipated to start in spring 2014. This project will be undertaken with 100 % State funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be held for this project due to the limited nature of the proposed work.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Timothy M. Wilson, Manager of Highway Design, at (860) 594-3189, or by e-mail at Timothy.Wilson@ct.gov. Please make reference to State Project Number 0146-0198.
