Nighttime Utility Project on Route 17 in Middletown; Detour Required

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime utility project on Route 17 WB (Hartford Avenue) in Middletown will require a detour beginning October 20, 2013.

      The utility project consists of a 12” gas main installation on Route 17 WB (Hartford Avenue) in Middletown.  This project is scheduled to occur Sunday, October 20, 2013 to Sunday, October 27, 2013. 

      This project is being performed by Yankee Gas / Henkels and Mccoy.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

      On October 20- 27, 2013, motorists can expect lane closures on Route 17 WB (Hartford Avenue) between Route 9 (Chester Bowles Highway) and route 66 (Main Street).  The work will begin on October 20, 2013 and will require a detour to be implemented while work is being performed.  Motorists will use the following routes during the detour:  Route 9 to Washington Street. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the detour. The regular work schedule for this project is 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (No work will be performed on Friday, October 25, 2013 or Saturday, October 26, 2013).  The detour will be in use until the project completion on October 27, 2013.

      Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
