Nighttime Bridge Maintenance on I-91 in Meriden

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime bridge maintenance project will be performed on I-91 northbound and southbound in Meriden, December 2-19, 2013.

The project consists of bridge haunch removal to the I-91 bridge over a local roadway in Meriden.  This project is scheduled to occur from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., December 2-19.

A bridge haunch is an extraneous, linear section that is left after concrete is formed and is unrelated to the structural integrity of the bridge, meaning that it is safe to remove it. Haunches can deteriorate over time and begin to crumble.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on I-91 NB and SB between Exit 15 (Rte. 68) and       Exit 17 (Rte. 15) in Meriden.  Traffic control personnel, state police and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Monday through Thursday).

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
