Exit 1B Ramp to U.S. Route 1 Southbound From Route 15 and I-95 Connector Roadway (Milford Connector) To Be Temporarily Closed for Nighttime Construction; Detour Required

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Exit 1B off ramp Route 15 and I-95 Connector Roadway (Milford Connector) in Milford will be temporarily closed at night to allow for construction on the ramp.  The closure is scheduled between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Wednesday October 9 through Saturday October 12, 2013.   

      The work is part of an intersection improvement project on U.S. Route 1, High Street and Meadow Street in Milford.  This project is part of the U.S. Route 1 corridor improvements program for intersection safety and operations.   The work includes the construction of exclusive through and turns lanes at High Street, U.S. Route 1 and Meadow Street. The ramp closure is necessary for the milling and paving operations in an effort to complete the project ahead of schedule.

      DOT Project No. 0083-0247 was awarded to American Industries of Jewett City, CT on October 12, 2011 at a cost of $3,448,263.60 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2013.

Ramp Detour Info-

      Exit 1B off ramp closed 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. October 9 through October 12, 2013.

      Motorists detoured to Exit 1A.  A uniformed police officer will be stationed at the end of the exit on Route 1 to assist vehicles turning left onto Route 1 Southbound.

Lane Closure Info-

      Meadow Street will be restricted to alternating one-way traffic during the ramp closure.

      Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
