The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the entrance to Valley Road at the intersection of Route 139 will be closed to through traffic.  A detour to access Valley Road from Route 22 will be in effect for 72 hours from Tuesday July 9th, 2013 to Thursday July 11th, 2013.

The work occurring on Valley Road at the intersection of Route 139 consists of placing approximately five (5) feet of fill to reduce the incline at the approach to Route 139.  The large Y-intersection island will also be narrowed and will only allow one entrance onto Valley Road from Route 139 to improve safety through this intersection.

This work is a portion of the DOT Project no. 0098-0103, awarded to Complete Construction at a cost of $1,474,433.46 on April 12th, 2013.  The project is scheduled to be completed by October 28th, 2013.

Traffic will be rerouted around the Valley Road intersection with Route 139 through Route 22 in North Branford. The detour will be well delineated with proper signage.  Residents of Valley Road will be granted access by way of Route 22. 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
