The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that motorists can expect weekend closures of the Exit 51 flyover ramp from I-84 East to I-91 North starting May 18, 2012.

The project involves the replacement of four expansion joints on Bridge #05868, known as the flyover from I-84 East (Exit 51) to I-91 north.  Additional work will also occur on some of the piers and includes crack repairs and a protective coating system.  A section of the bridge deck will also be milled and paved.

DETOUR INFO- Flyover ramp from I-84 East to I-91 North (Exit 51) closed to traffic from 11 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday during the following weekends:

May 18-20, June 1-3, June 8-10, June 15-17, June 22-24. No closure will take place on Memorial Day Weekend (May 25-27).

Detour: I-84 East Exit 52, right hand exit, to I-91 South for approximately 1.8 miles to Exit 27 (Airport Road), go left on Airport Road for  about 0.2 miles to entrance ramp on the right for I-91 north.

DOT Project No. 0063-0639 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. of Plantsville, CT on December 12, 2012 at a cost of $819,425.00 and is scheduled to be completed on June 28, 2012.
