U.S. Route 6 in Watertown to be Closed to Traffic between Baldwin Street and Merriam Lane Beginning at 7 PM on Monday night, June 25, 2012 until 6 AM on Tuesday, June 26, 2012
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that U.S. Route 6, Cutler Street, will be closed to through traffic between Baldwin Street and Merriam Lane on Monday night, June 25, 2012 beginning at 7 pm.  The closure is required to complete removal of the bridge superstructure over Steele Brook.  The detour will be in place until approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, June 26, 2012.
The project consists of the removal and replacement of Bridge No. 00464 carrying U.S. Route 6 over Steele Brook in Watertown.  The contractor will be installing new bridge beams, concrete deck, parapets and sidewalk and also reconstruction the bridge approaches.  
DETOUR INFO- U.S. Route 6 traffic will be CLOSED TO ALL TRAFFIC between Baldwin Street and Merriam Lane from 7 p.m. Monday, June 26 to 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 27.
Traffic will be detoured on Porter Street, Echo Lake Road and Route 63 (Main Street).
Bowers Street access is still only available via Porter Street.
DOT Project no. 0153-0120 was awarded on August 22, 2011 to Mastrobattisto, Inc. at a cost of $762,372.17.  The project is administered by the Department of Transportation, Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston, and is scheduled to be completed by November 2012.
