CTfastrak Work: Route 9 Southbound Off Ramp to Chestnut Street in New Britain
To be Closed Weekend of August 24, 2012
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the Route 9 southbound Exit 27 (left hand exit to Chestnut Street) in New Britain will be closed from 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 24th, until 6:00 a.m. Monday, August 27th. The work is part of the CTfastrak project, the 9.4-mile dedicated roadway for buses from New Britain to Hartford and serving numerous communities in Central Connecticut.

The ramp closure is necessary for the safe removal of the existing bridge that carries an abandoned rail line over Route 9 and extends over various on and off ramps including the Chestnut Street ramp.  The work is part of Contract C1 of CTfastrak and extends from Main Street to Stanley Street in New Britain.

Detour signs will be posted to assist motorists. Traffic will be directed to the Ellis Street off ramp (Exit 25) with access to Chestnut Street via Columbus Boulevard.

Project No. 0088-0177 (Contract C1) was awarded to Manafort Brothers Inc. of Plainville, Connecticut on March 22, 2012 at a cost of $26,718,482.80.  The project is being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction District 4, Thomaston and is scheduled to be completed November 1, 2014.
