Rotary Upgrade to Modern Roundabout in the Town of Seymour
The Connecticut Department of Transportation's Office of Engineering is developing plans to upgrade the existing rotary at Route 188 and Route 334 into a modern roundabout in the Town of Seymour.
The project involves reconfiguring the geometry of the rotary to reduce operating speeds and increase sight distances. The center island will also be raised to increase visibility from the approaches.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in March 2014 , with construction anticipated to start in autumn 2014. This project will be undertaken with 100 % State funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. A public informational meeting will be conducted upon the completion of the preliminary design. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Timothy M. Wilson, Manager of Highway Design, at (860) 594-3189, or by e-mail at Timothy.Wilson@ct.gov. Please make reference to State Project Number 0124-0162.
