Roadway Improvement Project on Interstate 91 and Route 9 in the North Haven, Wallingford, Rocky Hill, Newington, Meriden and New Britain
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a project to install median guide rail to alleviate cross-over traffic accidents and to replace the aging roadway illumination system has begun on Interstate 91 and Route 9 in the Towns of North Haven, Wallingford, Rocky Hill, Newington and Cities of Meriden & New Britain.
The primary limits of the project include installation of median guiderail on Interstate 91 from  500 feet north of the Route 40 overpass in North Haven (Exit 10) to the Baldwin Avenue underpass (Exit 19) in Meriden as well as selected ramps within the I-91, I-691, and Route 15 interchange area in Meriden; the removal and reinstallation of some existing light standards on new foundations along Route 9 northbound and southbound in New Britain and Newington from the Stanley Street #1 overpass (Exit 28) to the Cedar Street overpass (Exit 29); installation of a standpipe for fire protection on Interstate 91, bridge numbers 1448 (NB overpass Route 99) and 1449 (SB overpass Route 99) in the town of Rocky Hill.  
DOT Project No. 0082-0302 was awarded to Ducci Electrical Contractor, Inc. of Torrington, Ct. on September 22, 2011 at a cost of $4,405,914.00 and is scheduled to be completed on November, 13, 2013.
