The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of Engineering is developing plans for the rehabilitation of existing salt sheds on Route 12 in Preston, on Industrial Park Road in Putnam, and on Route 52 & 200 in Thompson. The main purpose of this project is to perform maintenance repairs to aging salt sheds. 

The project involves replacing the existing roof shingles and performing other minor improvements. The replacement product will be a polyvinyl chloride membrane roof.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in September 2012, with construction anticipated to start in the spring of 2013. This project will be undertaken with 100% State funds.

It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concern with us to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is not anticipated that a public information meeting will be necessary.
