Rehabilitation of Route 148 Bridge over Great Brook in the Town of Chester to Begin April 2, 2012
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the project for the Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 02695, Route 148 over Great Brook in the Town of Chester, will begin on April 2, 2012.

The project is necessary to correct the structural deficiencies and scour-critical nature of the existing bridge.  Additionally, the bridge is considered hydraulically deficient based on the design frequency storm.

The replacement structure consists of twin concrete box culverts with cast in place reinforced concrete wingwalls. The improvements also include reconstruction of the roadway approaches, installation of a concrete sidewalk, drainage improvements, and the installation of metal beam railing.

DOT Project No. 0026-0118 was awarded to Black & Warner Construction Co., Inc. of Unionville, Connecticut at a cost of $1,117,828.00 on January 26, 2012 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2012.
