Public Information Meeting Regarding Rehabilitation of Bridge Carrying Moosup Pond Road over I-395 in Plainfield
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a Public Informational Meeting concerning the proposed rehabilitation of Bridge Number 00303, which carries Moosup Pond Road over I-395 on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Auditorium at the Plainfield Town Hall, 8 Community Avenue, Plainfield, Connecticut.
The project is identified as State Project No. 108-178.
The proposed project consists of replacing the existing damaged fascia beam and portion of concrete deck on the north side of the structure, replacing the existing expansion bearings and raising the structure six (6) inches.  In addition, the existing concrete deck will be patched, a new protective waterproofing membrane and overlay installed and a 6-foot high protective chain link fence will be installed on the parapets to protect the traveling public on I-395 below.  The existing vertical profile of Moosup Pond Road will be modified slightly in the vicinity of the bridge.
There will be no utility impacts associated with the proposed work and all work will be performed within the state’s or local municipal’s right of way.
Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2013, based on the availability of funding. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $3 million and will be 80 percent Federal and 20 percent State funded.  There will be no Town funds required for the project.
The Public Informational Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.
