Public Information Meeting Concerning the Replacement of Bridge Nos. 02219 and 02220 on Route 25 (Main Street) in the Town of Monroe
The Connecticut Department of Transportation will conduct a Public Informational Meeting concerning the Replacement of Bridge Nos. 02219 (1.9 miles North of Route 111) and 02220 (2.5 miles North of Route 111) on Route 25 (Main Street) in the Town of Monroe on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Monroe Town Hall Offices, Council Chambers, 7 Fan Hill Road, Monroe, Connecticut.  Department personnel will be available at 6:30 p.m. to answer questions prior to a formal design presentation at 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of this project is to replace the existing bridge structures which are currently experiencing deficiencies identified in recent bridge reports. The existing bridges would be replaced with appropriately sized box-culverts.
Overhead and underground utility relocations would be required for the proposed improvements of this project. Additionally, partial right-of-way acquisitions would be required.
The present schedule indicates that the design would be completed in spring 2014, with construction anticipated to start in fall 2014, based on the availability of funding. Construction activities are anticipated to last approximately one year. The estimated construction cost for both bridge replacement projects is approximately $8.2 million, and it is anticipated to be undertaken with 100% state funds.
The Public Informational Meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning the proposed improvements of this project.
The meeting facility is ADA accessible. Deaf and hearing impaired persons wishing to attend this meeting and requiring an interpreter, must make arrangements by contacting the Department’s Office of Communications at (860) 594-3062 (voice only) at least five working days prior to the meeting. Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public, and efforts will be made to respond to requests for assistance.
Plans of the proposed project will be on display for public review. Department personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project. More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.
