Project Scheduled to Start for Repairs to Storm Damaged Bridge Carrying Route 162 (New Haven Avenue) over the Oyster River at the Milford and West Haven Town Line
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that repairs to Bridge No. 05751 that carries Route 162 (New Haven Avenue) over the Oyster River at the Milford and West Haven town line have started.
The project consists of repairs to the sidewalks, metal beam rail, existing roadway and other damage caused by storm Sandy.  The project will also include the construction of two retaining walls on the south side of Route 162 to protect the roadway from future damage. 

The first phase of construction activity will be for digging test pits along Route 162 to locate the underground utilities, making repairs to the sidewalk on the north side of Route 162, followed by the installationof the two new retaining walls on the south side.

DOT Project No. 0156-0177 was awarded to Baier Construction Comp. of Bloomfield, CT on November 8, 2012, at an estimated cost of $581,000 and is scheduled to be completed in April 2013.
