Project Scheduled To Begin For Upgrades Of The Traffic Signal System Along Church Street, George Street and Temple Street in the City of New Haven
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work will begin Thursday, January 5, 2012 for the upgrading of the traffic signal system at various intersections along Church Street, George Street and Temple Street in the City of New Haven.
The system upgrades include nine new traffic signals located at the following intersections:
  • Church Street at South Frontage Road, North Frontage Road, George Street, Crown Street and Chapel Street
  • George Street at Orange Street, and College Street
  • Temple Street at Crown Street and Chapel Street 

The existing antiquated traffic signal system will be replaced with a modern interconnected system which will help minimize peak traffic flows and allow for incident management.

LANE CLOSURE INFO- Expect lane closures Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  One lane of travel will be maintained during hours of work.  Intermittent traffic stoppages may occur to facilitate signal hardware installations.

DOT Project No. 0092-0629 was awarded to A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors, Inc. of Danbury, CT on November 21, 2011 at a cost of $2,511,206.85.  The current anticipated completion date is April 7, 2013.
