Project No. 103-247, Occum Maintenance Facility Renovation
The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of Engineering is developing plans for the renovation of the existing maintenance facility and salt shed at 125 Taftville Occum Road in the Occum section of Norwich.  The purpose of this project is to update the condition of the existing facility.
The project involves selective demolition within the office area and bay areas of the existing building; the renovation of the existing office and bay areas, including new office windows and mechanical/electrical systems; repairs to the existing salt shed; replacement of underground storage tanks, and minimal site improvements.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in October 2012, with construction anticipated to start in the spring of 2013.  This project will be undertaken with 100% State funds.
It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concern with us to assist in the project’s development.  At this time, it is not anticipated that a public information meeting will be necessary.
Anyone interested in receiving information on these projects may do so by contacting Mr. Theodore H. Nezames, Transportation Principal Engineer, at (860) 594-3298, or by e-mail at Theodore.Nezames@ct.gov. Please make reference to State Project Number 103-247.
