Project No. 0063-0679, I-91 Pavement Preservation: 3-Inch Mill and Overlay, City of Hartford
As part of the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Pavement Preservation Program for 2013, Interstate 91 northbound and southbound in the City of Hartford has been identified as a candidate for this program.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development.  An informational meeting or a formal public hearing will not be held for this project due to the limited nature of the proposed work.
The purpose of this program is to enhance pavement performance by using cost-effective treatments to extend the service life of the existing pavement. Interstate 91 northbound and southbound in the City of Hartford has been identified as a candidate for this program. The Department is developing plans to mill 3 inches of existing pavement and replace it with 3 inches of a polymer modified warm mix asphalt on Interstate 91 northbound and southbound.  The project begins approximately 2000’ south of the Charter Oak Bridge and ends approximately 500’ north of the Founders Bridge for a total length of 1.69 miles.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in October of 2012, with construction anticipated to start in the summer of 2013.  This project will be undertaken with 90% Federal and 10% State funds.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Timothy M. Wilson, Manager of Highway Design, at (860) 594-3189, or by e-mail at Timothy.Wilson@ct.gov. Please make reference to State Project Number 0063-0679.
