Nighttime Closure and Detour of the Route 34-East Ramps to I-95 NB and I-91 NB in New Haven is scheduled to Occur Monday, August 20th, through Friday, August 24, 2012
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime closure and detour of the Route 34-East ramps to I-95 NB and I-91 NB in New Haven is scheduled to occur Monday, August 20th, through Friday, August 24th, between the hours of 10 PM and 5 AM. Closure and detour of the ramps is necessary to facilitate bridge construction.
Motorists traveling Route 34 EB to I-95 NB or I-91 NB will be detoured to I-95 SB and Exit 45 (Ella Grasso Boulevard), where they will be directed back to I-95 NB or I-91 NB. Signs will be posted to assist motorists.
All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled if necessary.
Motorists can expect delays in the area of the surrounding Interchange including I-95, I-91, and Route 34, surrounding entrance and exit ramps and local roads.  Please plan ahead and consider alternate routes to get to your destination. 
The work in Contract E is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program and includes the reconstruction of the I-95/I-91/Route 34 Interchange. The project is scheduled for completion in November 2016 which finalizes the I-95 Improvement Program and its 7.2 miles of operational, safety and capacity improvements.
