I-84 Corridor Incident Management System Project in Southington Cheshire and Waterbury
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work along Silver Street Expressway (Route 69) between East Main Street and Hamilton Avenue in Waterbury is scheduled to begin.
The project involves the installation of fiber optic cable along Interstate 84 from Washington Street in Waterbury to Prospect Street in Southington for the I-84 Corridor Incident Management System. The work involves both underground and aerial cable, installation of four (4) variable message signs, nine (9) closed circuit television cameras, and sixteen (16) traffic flow monitors.
DOT Project no. 0151-0307 was awarded to A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $4,378,000.00 on November 28, 2011 and is scheduled to be completed May 22, 2013.

  • One lane of traffic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the northbound direction

  • Shoulder closures only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and lane closures allowed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
