Connecticut Department of Transportation Vernon Maintenance Facility Tank Replacement
The Connecticut Department of Transportation's (Department) Office of Engineering is developing plans for the replacement of the motor fueling facility and heating oil storage tank on the site of the existing maintenance facility at 37 Campbell Avenue in Vernon.  The purpose of this project is to upgrade the storage tanks to comply with the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection regulations.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share their concerns with us to assist in the project's development.  If there is adequate interest, an informational meeting will be conducted.  At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.
The project involves replacement of the motor fuel island and motor fuel underground storage tanks with aboveground storage tanks that include tank mounted dispensers and replacement of the heating oil underground storage tank and associated heating oil piping.  The new motor fuel aboveground storage tanks will be located in the front of the building in the area of the existing motor fuel island adjacent to Campbell Avenue.
The present schedule indicates that final design plans will be available in July 2012.  The project will be state funded.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Joseph Bordonaro, Project Engineer, at (860) 594-3310 or by e-mail at joseph.bordonaro@ct.gov. Please make reference to the Vernon Maintenance Facility Tank Replacement Project.
