Cedar Street Bridge over I - 95 in Norwalk will be Closed for Construction from August 13, 2012, to November, 2013
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the closure of the Cedar Street overpass bridge in Norwalk beginning August 13, 2012, and continuing to November 2013, to facilitate the ongoing reconstruction and installation of speed change lanes on I-95 at interchange 14 and 15.
Cedar Street – DETOUR
Southbound Cedar St. traffic will be detoured down Route 1 to cross the highway to Fairfield Avenue.  Traffic traveling northbound for Cedar St. will be detoured to Fairfield Aveune across the highway.  Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists around the areas.  
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. 
Project Background
The project will improve the lane width and merge distance on I-95 at Exits 14 & 15 and improve the width and access to Route 1.  The first major phase of this project involves the total reconstruction of Cedar Street bridge over I-95 for the widening of the highway.  Cedar Street will be closed to traffic between Summit Avenue and Route 1 starting on August 13, 2012 and anticipated to be closed until November of 2013.
