Bridge Rehabilitation Project on Route 74 over Interstate 84 (Exit 69) in Tolland
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction activity has started for the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00840 that carries Route 74 over I-84 in the town of Tolland.

The project involves the replacement of the bridge deck, bearings and approaches and will be completed in two stages.  The work also includes full depth repairs of the existing pavement on both sides of the bridge to the on and off ramps of I-84 at Exit 69.  The final paving with pavement markings and asphaltic joints is expected to be completed by November 2012.

The work to abrasive blast clean and field paint the structural steel will be performed during the following Spring 2013 season and is expected to be completed by October 2013.

LANE CLOSURE INFO- Motorists can expect lane closures as follows:

Route I-84 Monday – Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Tolland Stage Road – Route 74

Monday - Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Alternating one way traffic will be in effect during stage construction using temporary traffic signals and is tentatively set for the first week of May 2012

DOT Project No. 0142-0148 was awarded to Arborio Corporation on February 14, 2012 at a cost of $2,667,181.66 and is scheduled to be completed in October, 2013.
