The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work for the painting of various areas of bridge overpasses and underpasses along Interstate 95 in the cities of New London and Groton is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 14, 2011, weather permitting.

The project consists of the spot rust removal, cleaning, steel repair and painting of bridge beam ends and the bridge joint areas at the following locations:

NEW LONDON AREA

- Bridge No. 2602 carrying Coleman Street over I-95

- Bridge No. 2603 carrying Briggs Street over I-95 

- Bridge No. 2611 carrying Rte. 32 over I-95 and North Frontage Road

- Bridge No. 2572 carrying Rte. 1 (So. Frontage Rd) over I-95 Exit 83 and Huntington St.

- Bridge Nos. 2612, 2846 & 2833 carrying Rte. 32 over I-95, ramps, frontage roads

- Bridge No. 3820 carrying I-95 over Williams Street

- Bridge No. 2864 carrying I-95 northbound ramp from and over Huntington Street

GROTON AREA

- Bridge Nos. 1783 & 1784 carrying Flanders Road over I-95

- Bridge No. 1785 carrying Noank-Ledyard Road over I-95

NEW LONDON AREA

I-95 Northbound: Mon-Thurs 6 p.m. – 6 a.m., Fri 6 p.m. – Sat 9 a.m., Sat 7 p.m. – Sun 9 a.m., Sun 4 p.m. - Mon 6 a.m.

I-95 Southbound: Mon-Thurs 6 p.m. – 6 a.m., Fri 8 p.m. – Sat 9 a.m., Sat 9 p.m. – Sun 9 a.m., Sun 10 p.m. - Mon 6 a.m.

All other routes:  9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.

DOT Project No. 172-380 was awarded to A. Laugeni & Son, Inc. of West Haven, CT at a cost of $1,990,465.00 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2011.
