Westway Road Reopened in Southport as Work Continues to  Next Stage of Construction for the Replacement of Bridge Carrying the New Haven Rail Line over Westway Road
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Westway Road between Pequot Avenue and Westford Drive in Southport has reopened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic following completion of one of the stages of construction.

LANE CLOSURE INFO- Intermittent traffic stoppages and alternating one way traffic will occur during daytime hours as work continues.  The next stage of construction does not require closure of road.

In approximately 11 months the road will be closed to traffic as contractor begins work on second half of Bridge No. 0839R that carries the New Haven Rail Line over Westway Road.

The work is part of DOT Project No. 0015-0296/0301-0070 that includes an overhaul of the overhead Catenary wire system and replacement of five bridges on the New Haven Rail Line between Bridgeport and Fairfield.  The contract was awarded to Ducci Electrical Contractors of Torrington, CT, in April 2007 and the current schedule has the project completed in June 2012.
