Traffic shift on Route 47 in the Town of Washington with alternating one way traffic over the Shepaug River Starting August 15, 2011
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that traffic will be shifted to a newly installed temporary bridge along Route 47 in the Town of Washington on August 15, 2011.  Alternating one way traffic controlled by a temporary traffic signal will allow traffic to crossover the Shepaug River on the temporary bridge. This traffic shift is expected to remain in place until March 2012.
The temporary bridge and traffic shift are required so that the existing bridge can be replaced. The project also includes minor drainage improvements and roadway reconstruction along Route 47 adjacent to the bridge. Access to the Hidden Valley Nature Persevere, local businesses and residences in the area will be maintained at all times.
DOT Project No. 0150-0125 was awarded on March 11, 2011 to NJR Construction LLC of Terryville, CT at a cost of $1,577,950.90 and is scheduled for completion in June 2012. The contract is being administered by the Office of Construction District 4 Thomaston.
Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to proceed with caution through this and all other construction work zone.
