Setting of Structural Steel Scheduled To Begin for the Route 63 Bridge over the Metro-North Railroad and the Naugatuck River in the Town of Naugatuck
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the setting of structural steel for the bridge carrying Route 63 over Metro-North and the Naugatuck River is scheduled to begin on March 22, 2011 and be completed around April 29, 2011.
Alternating one way traffic on Route 63 can be expected Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.   In addition, traffic may be halted for up to 10 minutes during actual placement of structural steel.
Additional Road Closure- Effective March 22, 2011, Elm Street under Route 63 is scheduled to be closed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for approximately 2 weeks.   Detours will be posted to assist motorists.
The work is part of DOT Project No. 087-0138, for the replacement of the existing structure and the existing substructure on Bridge #01034 that carries Route 63 over the Metro-North Railroad and Naugatuck River.  
The contract was awarded to the Brunalli Construction Corporation on October 22, 2008 at a cost of $23,369,683.00 and is scheduled to be completed in September, 2011.
