Replacement of Retaining Wall on Route 45 (East Shore Road) in the Town of Washington

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a detour will be in place starting Monday, January 24, 2011 until May 2011 for the construction of a new retaining wall on Route 45 in the town of Washington. Route 45 will be closed to through traffic between New Preston Hill Road and West Shore Road at Flirtation Avenue. Local resident and business access will be maintained. 

Detour- Only local access to residents and businesses will be available between New Preston Hill Road and West Shore Road. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes in the area. A signed detour is in place using Routes 202, 45 and 341 in the towns of Washington and Warren.

The contract was awarded to Black & Warner Construction Company, Inc. of Unionville, CT on November 19, 2010 at a cost of $821,997.55. The project started in December 2010 and included tree removal, surveying and signing in preparation for the detour. The project is scheduled to be completed in September of 2011.
