Public Presentation by the Connecticut Department of Transportation Concerning Proposed Culvert Rehabilitation at the Route 9 ramps to Route 99 (Main Street) at Exit 18
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will present information concerning proposed culvert rehabilitation at the Route 9 ramps to Route 99 (Main Street) at Exit 18 on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Cromwell Town Hall, 41 West Street, Room 224/225, Cromwell, Connecticut.  A formal design presentation will be made during the Board of Selectman meeting, which begins at 7:00 p.m.
The project is identified as State Project Number 33-127.
The proposed project consists of rehabilitation of two culverts, which convey Cromwell Creek under the Route 9 ramps to Route 99 (Main Street) at Exit 18. The existing culverts, installed in 1967, have surpassed their service life and are in need of urgent repair. The culverts are proposed to be lined with a cured in-place pipe lining.  A nighttime ramp closure may be required for one or two nights to complete some of the work.
Temporary easements for work areas from two property owners, include the Town of Cromwell, are necessary to rehabilitate the two culverts.
Construction is anticipated during the summer of 2013, based on the availability of funding. The estimated construction cost for this project is approximately $600,000 and it is anticipated to be undertaken with 80% Federal and 20% State funds.
A project presentation by the Department at the Board of Selectman meeting is being held to afford a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.
Deaf and hearing impaired persons wishing to attend this meeting and requiring an interpreter, must make arrangements by contacting the Department’s Office of Communications at (860) 594-3061 at least five working days prior to the meeting.
Plans of the proposed project will be on display for public review. Department personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project. More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays. Anyone wishing to discuss the project may contact Mr. Scott A. Hill at (860) 594-3272 or by e-mail at scott.hill@ct.gov. Plans are also available for review at the Cromwell Town Hall.
