Public Info Meeting Regarding the Proposed Construction of Left Turn Lanes on Route 127 (White Plains Road) at the Intersection of Reservoir Avenue and the Driveway to 888 White Plains Road, in Trumbull
The Connecticut Department of Transportation will conduct a Public Information Meeting concerning the proposed construction of left turn lanes on Route 127 (White Plains Road) at the intersection of Reservoir Avenue and the driveway to 888 White Plains Road on Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Town Hall, Council Chambers, 5866 Main Street, Trumbull, Connecticut.  An informal question and answer session will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a formal design presentation at 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of this project is to reduce the number of accidents currently occurring at this intersection by constructing exclusive left turn lanes on Route 127.  Route 127 will be widened at the intersection and the existing traffic signal will be modified or replaced.  Surface and subsurface drainage improvements will be included in the project.  The existing sidewalk will be reconstructed in-kind. Utility poles and underground utilities will be relocated.  The proposed work will require the acquisition of right of way.
Construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2012, based on the availability of funding.  The estimated cost for this project is approximately $3.7 million, which will be funded with 100% Federal funds.
The Public Information Meeting is being held to afford an opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning this proposed project.
Plans of the proposed project will be on display for public review.  ConnDOT personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project.  More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.  Anyone wishing to discuss the project may contact Mr. Scott A. Hill at (860) 594-3272 or by e-mail at scott.hill@ct.gov.  Plans are also available or review at the Trumbull Town Hall – Town Clerk’s Office.
