Project Under Development for Pavement Preservation of Route 6 in the Towns of Manchester, Bolton, Andover and Coventry
The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of Engineering is developing plans to improve two sections of Route 6.   The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in fall 2011, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2012.
This project proposes to improve existing pavement conditions and extend service life by overlaying with 5/8-inch of Ultra-Thin Bonded HMA Pavement (Type B), curb to curb, within the project limits.  An area of the roadway pavement, approximately between mile marker 79.23 and 79.79, will be crack sealed.  Some very minor surface patching may be performed.  Bridges will be overlaid.

It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development.  It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be held for this project due to the limited scope of the proposed work.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in fall 2011, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2012.  This project will be undertaken with 80% Federal and 20% State funds.

Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Timothy M. Wilson, Manager of State Design, at (860) 594-3189 or by e-mail at timothy.wilson@ct.gov.  Please make reference to Project No. 076-216.
