Project Starts For Safety and Traffic Operational Improvements on Route 173 and SR 529 (New Britain Avenue and Newington Avenue) in the Town of West Hartford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction is scheduled to start Thursday, April 7, 2011 for safety and traffic improvements along Route 173 and SR 529 (New Britain Avenue and Newington Avenue) in the town of West Hartford.
The project consists of milling and resurfacing of the existing roadways, storm drainage improvements, reconstruction of brick and concrete sidewalks, installation of granite stone curbing, and upgrading of existing lighting and traffic signals. The project involves work on New Britain Avenue from the Route 71 intersection to South Street (east of the railroad tracks) and a section of Route 173 Newington Road from the Newington town line to the intersection with SR529 (New Britain Avenue). 
DOT Project No. 0155-0162 was awarded to RE. D. Technologies, LLC of Bloomfield, CT on January 5, 2011 at a cost of $5,237,929.15 and is scheduled for completion in October 2012.
LANE CLOSURE INFO- Night and weekend work is not being scheduled at this time.  Allowable hours of work are:
Route 173, SR 529 including intersections 
Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  
All other roadways
Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
