Project Started For Rehabilitation of Derby Avenue between Route 8 Southbound Exit 20 Off Ramp and Bungay Road in the Town of Seymour

The Connecticut Department of Transportation in conjunction with the Town of Seymour is announcing that work has begun for the rehabilitation of Derby Avenue between the Route 8 southbound off ramp (Exit 20) and Bungay Road in the town of Seymour.  The construction project is one of several transportation infrastructure initiatives being funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The project consists of the full depth reclamation and replacement of the existing pavement structure on the southbound lane and resurfaces the entire road width to extend the serviceability of the roadway.

LANE CLOSURE INFO – Derby Avenue will have alternating one way traffic Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Route 8 Exit 20 Southbound off ramp to Derby Avenue may be closed to traffic as well.

During closure of Route 8 off ramp, traffic will be rerouted to Exit 19 (Route 334, Wakelee Avenue/Derby Avenue).

The contractor will also be allowed to halt traffic on Route 8 for 10 minute periods between the hours of 12:01 a.m. (midnight) and 5 a.m. on all non-Holiday days.

DOT Project No. 0124-0168 was awarded on March 8, 2011 to Cocchiola Paving, Inc., of Oakville, CT at a cost of $727,194.25 and is scheduled for completion in November, 2011.
