Project for the Replacement of Existing Steel Bridge Expansion Bearings Scheduled to Start
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of work  for the replacement of bridge bearings on structures located on I-395 and U.S. Route 6 in the towns of Norwich, Lisbon, Griswold, Plainfield and Killingly.
The existing steel bridge expansion bearings are being replaced with elastomeric bearings at locations listed below. The work also consists of concrete keeper block installation and concrete bearing pad replacement.

Site 2 Bridge #01444, 1-395 Northbound over Route 12, Killingly
Site 3 Bridge #00297, I-395 over Lathrop Road (SR 647), Plainfield
Site 4 Bridge #00304, 1-395 over Roper Road, Plainfield

The contractor will be closing lanes during daytime hours during the next few weeks to get measurements and survey information. Actual bearing replacement is not scheduled to begin in April of this year.
Lane Closure Info- Monday through Friday between 9 A.M. and 3 P.M. on I-395, Route 6, Route 12 and local roads.
Additional closure hours may occur once the project begins bearing work and advance notification will be provided.
The contract was awarded on December 15, 2010 to The Hartland Building & Restoration Co. of East Granby, Connecticut at a cost of $1,439,450.00 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2012.
