Plans Under Development to Improve a Section of I-84 in the Towns of East Hartford and Manchester
The purpose of this project is to improve the existing bituminous wearing surface and extend the service life of the pavement. The project consists of milling and overlay the bituminous pavement on I-84 between the Route 15 interchange and Hockanum River.
It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development.  It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be held for this project due to the limited nature of the proposed work.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in October 2011, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2012. This project will be undertaken with 80% Federal funds and 20% State funds.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Timothy M. Wilson, Manager of Highway Design, at (860) 594-3189, or by e-mail at timothy.wilson@ct.govPlease make reference to State Project No. 42-312.
