Nighttime Closure of Forbes Avenue/U.S. Route 1 will occur Monday, September 19th through Thursday, September 22, 2011
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Forbes Avenue/U.S. Route 1, between Stiles Street and East Street, will be closed at nighttime, Monday, September 19th through Thursday, September 22, 2011, between the hours of 8 PM and 6 AM.  This closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of the portion of the new Q-Bridge spanning Forbes Avenue.
Traffic traveling eastbound on Forbes Avenue will be detoured onto I-95 NB via Long Wharf Drive and continue to Woodward Avenue (Exit 50) to Forbes Avenue. 
Traffic traveling westbound on Forbes Avenue will be detoured onto I-95 SB via Stiles Street to the Waterfront Connector On-Ramp and continue to Sargent Drive (Exit 46), Canal Dock Road and Long Wharf Drive. 
All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled if necessary. 
The work in Contract B is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program and includes the construction of the new Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge.  This contract is in advance of the reconstruction of the I-95/I-91/Route 34 Interchange.
