Night closure of Forbes Avenue/U.S. Route 1 to occur Thursday, March 17 and Thursday, March 24, 2011
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Forbes Avenue/U.S. Route 1, between Stiles Street and East Street, will be closed Thursday, March 17, and Thursday, March 24, 2011, between the hours of 10 PM and 5 AM. This closure is necessary to facilitate the removal of formwork from the pier spanning Forbes Avenue.
Traffic traveling eastbound on Forbes Avenue will be detoured onto I-95 NB via Long Wharf Drive and continue to Woodward Avenue (Exit 50) to Forbes Avenue. 
Traffic traveling westbound on Forbes Avenue will be detoured onto I-95 SB via Stiles Street to the Waterfront Connector On-Ramp and continue to Sargent Drive (Exit 46), Canal Dock Road and Long Wharf Drive. 
All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled to occur Friday, March 25, 2011, between the hours of 10 PM and 5 PM, if necessary. 
The work in Contract B is part of the I-95 New Haven Harbor Crossing (NHHC) Corridor Improvement Program and includes the construction of the new Pearl Harbor Memorial (Q) Bridge.  This contract is in advance of the reconstruction of the I-95/I-91/Route 34 Interchange.
