Installation of Rumble Strips, Nighttime Work to Commence, Routes 3,7,8,9,40,I-84,I-91,I-95 and I-395, Statewide
The Connecticut  Department of Transportation is announcing that beginning on or about Saturday, April 9, 2011, nighttime construction work will begin for the installation of rumble strips on Routes 3,7,8,9,40,I-84,I-91,I-95 and I-395, at various locations statewide.

The Contract was awarded to “Surface Preparation Technologies, Inc.” of Mechanicsburg, PA, on September 22, 2010, at a cost of $424,130.00 and is scheduled to be completed in June 2011.

Motorists can expect lane closures at the allowable hours of work which are as follow:                                           

  Route 3, NB/SB – Wethersfield and Glastonbury

Saturday – Thursday ----------- 7pm to 6am

  Route 7 NB/SB – Danbury –Brookfield- Norwalk

Saturday – Thursday ----------- 7pm to 6am

       Route 8 NB/SB – NaugatuckWaterbury: SheltonSeymour; Watertown    Thomaston

Saturday – Thursday ----------- 7pm to 6am  

       Route 9 NB/SB –Chester – Haddam – Middletown – Cromwell

Saturday – Thursday ----------- 7pm to 6am

        Route 40 NB/SB- North Haven

Saturday – Thursday ----------- 7pm to 6am

        Route 84 EB/WB – DanburyNewtown; Willington – Union

Saturday – Thursday ----------- 7pm to 6am

        Route 91 NB/SB – Middletown – Cromwell – Rocky Hill; North Haven – WallingfordMeridenMiddletown

Saturday – Thursday ----------- 7pm to 6am

         Route 95 NB/SB – Westport – Branford; GrotonStonington

         Route 395 NB/SB – Norwich

No work that will interfere with existing traffic will be allowed from 6am Thursday to 12:01 am Monday for Good Friday April 22, 2011 and from 6 am Friday to 12:01 am Tuesday for Memorial Day May 30, 2011.

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limits and to use caution through this and all other construction work zones.
