Work To Continue Through July 2011 for Structural Steel Repairs and Painting of the Bridge Carrying Pleasant Valley Road (Route 181) over the Farmington River in Barkhamsted
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the contract completion date for the bridge carrying Route 181 over the Farmington River in Barkhamsted is revised to July 2011.  The new schedule is due to additional steel repairs and weather delays for completion of painting.
An alternating one way traffic pattern will be used during construction activities on and above the roadway between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.  The contractor is also be working on another bridge located off Route 44 at Route 219 (Reservoir Road) over the Farmington River in New Hartford. 
The project consists of guide rail improvements, abrasive blast cleaning and painting of steel superstructure, replacement of structural steel components of the truss system and replacement of portions of the deck beams on Bridge No. 1496. 
DOT Project No. 0005-0109 is part of a two-project contract (0091-0119 second project) awarded to Hartland Building and Restoration of East Granby, CT on April 16, 2010 at a cost $4,148,280.00.  Project 91-119 in New Hartford will be completed by November 30, 2010 and 5-109 in Barkhamsted is currently scheduled to be completed by July 2011.
